Counseling for Adults and Adolescents

Play Therapy for Children
Play is the primary way that children learn about themselves and their environment. By watching children play, we often learn more about that child's thoughts, feelings and struggles. Play is an integral part of healthy childhood development. However, it needs to be in a safe environment allowing the child to express himself or herself using toys and activities such as painting.
Child-centered therapy allows your child's problems or issues to be naturally expressed through play. Expressing themselves with paints and crayons is helpful to children who are either too young to talk or have some difficulty in verbally expressing themselves. The use of this creative medium in therapy enhances the child's ability to re-enact some of his/her difficulties. When developmentally appropriate, your child may experience play therapy in a focused play room ready with therapeutic toys.
